Leadership & Mission Philosophy

Built from experience where preparation is not optional.

My professional background began in law enforcement, where I also served as an Underwater Search & Rescue Police Diver, before going on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Those experiences shaped my understanding of preparedness, human behavior, risk, and personal protection long before GPSG existed.

I founded GPSG because I saw a gap between traditional training and what people actually need: the ability to recognize danger, think under pressure, make sound decisions, and act when circumstances change. GPSG was built to bridge that gap through education that develops awareness, capability, confidence, and preparedness.

Effective protection begins long before a threat becomes a crisis. Capable people are harder to surprise, exploit, or overwhelm.

Flagship Framework

The STEPP Project™

Four operational quadrants that form the foundation of every GPSG program: Situational Awareness, Tactical Skills, Empowerment, and Preparedness. Together they build practical awareness, decision-making, and protective capability that transfers to real life.

S

Situational Awareness

01 / Quadrant

Read environments, establish baselines, and identify pre-incident indicators before a situation escalates.

Operational Metric

Baseline & Anomaly Recognition

  • Environmental baselining
  • Pre-incident indicators
  • Attention management
T

Tactical Skills

02 / Quadrant

Develop the practical mechanics of positioning, movement, and response under realistic constraints.

Operational Metric

Applied Response Mechanics

  • Positioning and spacing
  • Movement under stress
  • Response sequencing
E

Empowerment

03 / Quadrant

Replace hesitation with informed confidence through repetition, feedback, and honest assessment.

Operational Metric

Decision Confidence Index

  • Decision confidence
  • Verbal and boundary skills
  • Personal capability audit
P

Preparedness

04 / Quadrant

Build durable plans, contingencies, and habits that hold up when circumstances change.

Operational Metric

Readiness Continuity

  • Contingency planning
  • Risk recognition
  • Sustained readiness habits

Operational Capabilities

Real methodology. Measurable student outcomes.

GPSG training is judged by what students can actually do afterward. Our methodology blends scenario work, structured assessment, and cognitive conditioning into a single progression.

Field Work

Scenario-based readiness drills

Instructor conducting a post-drill debrief with a small group

Assessment

Structured debrief and feedback

Awareness

Earlier recognition of risk

Decisions

Clearer thinking under stress

Capability

Repeatable, tested response

Confidence

Grounded in real assessment

Scenario-Based Drills

Realistic constraints, time pressure, and imperfect information so decisions are trained, not just discussed.

Structured Assessment

Every student receives honest evaluation against clear standards, with a defined path to the next tier.

Team & Corporate Seminars

Programs adapted for organizations, executive teams, and groups with specific operating environments.

Human Performance

Cognitive load, stress response, and recovery integrated into the technical side of every course.

Alumni & Student Feedback

What students say after the standard is set.

The STEPP Project changed how I move through everyday environments. I notice things now that I used to walk straight past, and I have a plan instead of a reaction.

Daniel R.

Civilian Student

I arrived with zero firearms experience and never felt rushed or talked down to. The instruction was patient, precise, and safety came first at every step.

Marisol T.

New Shooter Orientation

Our leadership team completed a private seminar and walked out with practical protocols, not slogans. It was the most useful day of training we have booked.

Alan P.

Operations Director

GRIT is honest. It is built around what actually holds up when you are tired and off balance, and the coaching is direct without ever being harsh.

Kenji M.

GRIT Combat System Alumni

ITE was the most demanding training I have completed. The prerequisites exist for a reason, and the standard was held from the first minute to the last.

Vanessa L.

ITE Qualified Alumni

The cognitive block was the surprise for me. Learning how my decisions degrade under stress made every other skill in the course more usable.

Grant H.

Cognitive & Preparedness

Moeilijk teaches from real experience without ever making it about himself. Everything is explained, tested, and then pressure checked before you move on.
